Why Sleep is Important

Sleep is essential for a person's health and well-being. While there is no magic number to how much sleep is needed per night, it is suggested adults need 7-9 hours of sleep a night.

Benefits of Good Sleep

Ample sleep is pivotal. But millions of people don't get enough sleep or suffer from lack of sleep. In fact, in a survey conducted by the NSF from 1999 to 2004, it was discovered that at least 40 million Americans suffer from more than 70 different sleep disorders. A good night's sleep allows you to wake up easier and stay more energized and attentive throughout the day. Multiple nights of poor or minimal sleep can result in a variety of problems, including everything from sluggishness to insomnia.

Ideal Sleeping Conditions

Distractions:

Excess light and noise, restless partners and even electronics in the bedroom can rob people of sleep. A dark, quiet bedroom is key. Turning off lights and electronics as well as closing curtains or blinds before bed will help limit your exposure to light. Earplugs and "white noise" devices such as a fan will help when noise or a snoring partner is a factor.

Temperature:

It truly is a personal preference. Some like it cold and some like it hot. But in most cases, if the temperature is above 75 degrees Fahrenheit or below 54 degrees Fahrenheit, sleep can be disrupted.

Sleeping Surface:

The proper support for your head, neck and back is imperative for just-right sleeping conditions. But, just like temperature, there is no one style of bedding that works for everyone. Whether it's soft, firm, thick or thin, testing multiple bedding product types will help ensure a comfortable night's sleep.
